Following the arrest of Erion Veliaj, Deputy Mayor Antuela Ristani has been tasked with taking over the leadership of the largest municipality in the country, as long as the current mayor is behind bars.
Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the Tirana Municipality premises this morning.
This is the third time since the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj that Rama has visited the most powerful local government institution in Albania.
Two days ago, the prime minister visited the municipality twice and was accompanied by the deputy mayor Anisa Ruseti, who is also the delegate who will lead Tirana temporarily.
Such visits are expected to be frequent by the head of government, as he himself has stated that the capital's municipality will be under his patronage after Veliaj's imprisonment.
It is learned that Rama will go every morning and hold meetings with the municipality staff and the directors of the institutions under its jurisdiction.
This is the third time that the head of government has gone to the local institution after the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj on February 10 in his office by order of SPAK.
