Socialist MP Erion Braçe has stated that offering himself to run for the leadership of the Municipality of Tirana is not a personal ambition.
Braçe says it is the right time for the candidate for Tirana to be selected according to a process foreseen by the party's statute. Braçe emphasizes that the election of Ogerta Manastirliu last September was an emergency, while today is not.
"It has nothing to do with ambition. There are some things that when said inside the house, stay inside the house. With all due respect to my friend, I think that the SP should carry out a process like for any other municipality. There was an emergency in September, it could have been like that, now is enough time for the SP to carry out a process. What the statute foresees, as is done for any municipality, can also be done for Tirana. The result in time and in any territory only applies to work and jobs, it does not apply to careers. It has nothing to do with personal ambitions," said Braçe.
Yesterday, Erion Braçe announced his candidacy for the position of mayor of Tirana at the meeting of the Assembly of the Socialist Party of Unit 5, where delegate Taulant Balla and Fatmir Xhafaj were present.
None of the members of the Tirana Socialist Party Assembly, which is also considered the heart of the socialists in the capital, has been satisfied with the way socialist policies have developed in the area so far.
Braçja was among the last to speak.
"As you understood, this situation itself cannot be like this anymore. The problems that the socialists have cannot be solved and a different organization is needed. Therefore, in this situation, I will come out to seek the support of the socialists not only in unit 5, but in all of Tirana and if I will not be the official candidate of the SP, I will announce my candidacy as an independent candidate for mayor of Tirana," said Braçe at the meeting.
