'If I had an aunt, that's what she would be called...", Rama:

Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with Albanians living in Greece on Sunday afternoon, as part of the campaign for the parliamentary elections on May 11. Rama urged Albanians to vote for the Socialist Party, linking the vote for the 4th mandate of the government with Albania's membership in the EU.

One of those present asked Rama what guarantees he has that Greece will not block Albania's path to EU membership, as it has done before?

While the Prime Minister, after complimenting the citizen who speaks Albanian very well even though he has been in Greece for 30 years, asked him if he remembered the expression "if he had an aunt like that, he would be an uncle...".

The hall erupted in laughter, while Rama emphasized that it no longer happens that Albania's path to EU membership is blocked.

" We are in very positive relations, you should know that with Mitsotakis and his government we are in a continuous dialogue, we have made progress on those issues on which we had agreement, such as those related to minorities and decisions to sanction some of their rights.

Issues that needed to be resolved and have been resolved. We have on the table, from our side, the request to finally lift the martial law because it is absurd.

Two close peoples and members of NATO and we are in a state of war because there is an absurd law. Our insistence is that this law must be repealed.

"I believe that this law and the remaining issues where nationalist swamp owls here and there have often made a mess of the world, we will rise above the swamps and make it possible to open an era of strategic partnership," said Rama.
