The election of Donika Ndoj is accompanied by questions about her votes in the Municipal Council and the role of local structures and deputies in the process...

The elections in the Democratic Party branch in Lezha were held amid accusations of interference and political influence from outside the party structures. At the center of the debate is Donika Ndoj, a member of the Municipal Council since 2023, who has voted several decisions in line with the socialist majority. Opponents cite the involvement of the Lezha Municipality structures, the mayor Pjerin Ndreu, as well as the deputies Gjin Gjoni and Admir Kadeli in supporting her candidacy.

The recent elections in the Democratic Party branch in Lezha have sparked debate about the way the process unfolded and the influence of external factors on the final result.

Donika Ndoj, elected head of the branch, has been a member of the Lezha Municipal Council since 2023 as a representative of the Democratic Party. During her mandate, she has voted on several decisions proposed by the socialist majority. A concrete case is the vote on the annual budget on December 15, 2025, where five opposition councilors voted against, while she voted in favor of the draft budget presented by the majority.

On July 8, after the local elections of May 11, she accompanied the mayor of Lezha, Pjerin Ndreu, on a delegation to Italy. This action was interpreted by her opponents as an indication of political closeness to the local leaders of the Socialist Party.

The election process within the Democratic Party of Albania in Lezha was accompanied by allegations of bias by the departments and staff of the Lezha Municipality in favor of the candidate. Party members declare that pressure was exerted on voters to influence the result.

These accusations also mention the role of MP Gjin Gjoni, as well as the engagement of MP Admir Kadeli in supporting Donika Ndoj's candidacy. According to opponents, the political support of these figures has affected the internal balance of the branch.

The election result has created divisions within the local structures of the DP. Part of the membership considers the process distorted by external interference, while supporters of the elected leader consider the vote to be an expression of the will of the membership.

The debate now goes beyond an internal party competition and touches on the issue of the independence of political organization at the local level, as well as the relations between the local government and the opposition in Lezha./ Pamphlet
