Democratic leader Sali Berisha considers the decision of the Constitutional Court, which considers the decision to dismiss Erion Veliaj as Mayor of Tirana illegal, as a blow to Prime Minister Edi Rama.
After the meeting of the DP Presidency, Berisha was asked about the Constitutional Court's decision, which overturned the Government's decision regarding the dismissal of Erion Veliaj, but also the President's decree, announcing partial local elections in Tirana.
"The judges applied the law, but also commented on the decision as a gift that Edi Rama, who knows no law or morality, unwittingly gave to his main opponent within the party, Erion Veliaj."
"He treated it to the point where I had to come out as a human rights expert. He treated it in a way that violates the European Convention on Human Rights, the Constitution and every standard of treatment of prisoners. And with that he gave Erion Velia the de facto advantage. Rama, but also the President, are doomed by this decision," said Berisha.
