The member of the DP Presidency, Jonila Godole, analyzing the situation within the party and the decision of the National Council of the official DP to hold the presidential elections on July 29, she said that the opposition is losing the chance to show that it knows how to solve the crisis within her.
In an interview for "News24", she said that this was a rushed process that should have been based on a consensus of the parties.
She added that she had requested that in the newly formed DP, it was decided that Basha and Berisha would not return to the head of the party.
" I have expressed my opinion since that evening and I said that the problem I had with that meeting and after that is the way the process was developed and for me we are simply not dealing with democratic standards of how a process should be developed for I fought to have a race that was open and led the DP to a deep reflection on what has happened to it and to see what it can offer as a winning alternative tomorrow.
Whenever I speak about the DP and what should have been done and about the missing democratic standards that I see and that continue to deepen, the lack of these standards, I have always focused on how the DP can be victorious. I was sure how the DP would be the winner if it does not burn the stages quickly but takes some time to analyze where it is, who are its members, what are the structures that will support it in the 2025 elections, with what a modern program, what will be the new management team.
One of the points of the platform that I presented was that PD needs a new leadership beyond Berisha and Basha, with a brand new spirit, who will not only speak to the Democrats, but also to a large part of the gray electorate. , who does not support the SP, does not support the government's policies, but wants something different. I thought that if the DP had had more patience, more dialogue, we would have shown that the DP is serious, it knows how to solve the crisis within it and tomorrow it will know how to solve the crises for Albania, this chance was lost.
For a year and a half, the party was non-existent, I asked for meetings, so that there would be an opposition action. This action has been left to the pulpit and I have expressed that the leadership should bear responsibility. When Mr. Bardhi spoke in the position of general secretary about the state of the DP, it seemed to me a very serious remark and I was present there and I supported him in the meeting in the sense of let's see, what solution we will find. There were several proposals and I was about to enter into a dialogue and then which proposals stand, could we come up with a consensual platform.
It was a rushed process that should have been based on a consensus. Enough with a war that has fragmented the right, it has torn it apart, and it was the moment when the deputies and the presidency and the leadership of the party were together and everyone gave a little of themselves so that the language of compromise and the language of consensus could be found. a more open climate was created and the membership was talked about, what the membership wants. I would have hoped that we would listen to the membership and then open the competition process ", said Godole.
