The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has made serious accusations against the State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi.
Berisha denounced that 350 ballot boxes were illegally taken from the CEC warehouses in Farka, without any accompanying documents, and were sent to a facility administered by a former Socialist Party MP.
"Today I have these questions for Ilirjan Celibashi. Were 350 ballot boxes taken on April 12 or 13, 2025 from the CEC warehouses in Farka? First. Second. Did he sign the handover of the 350 ballot boxes to certain persons? Third. Is he aware of their receipt without any documents? Of their receipt without any documents and their sending to a location administered by a former socialist MP. And lastly. I ask Mr. Celibashi to immediately hand over the cameras of the voting materials warehouses at the request of the representatives of the Alliance for a Greater Albania at the CEC", declared Berisha.
The leader of the DP described this event as an electoral crime that goes beyond any precedent in the country's 32 years of democratic transition:
"The DP has all the possibilities to substantiate the questions I asked today. But Mr. Celibashi must answer these questions because we are dealing with an act unheard of in 32 years, but warned that it had occurred by a series of demonstrations in which the ballot boxes could have been anything, but not ballot boxes at the voting centers," said Berisha.
