Trial in The Hague, President Osmani: Former KLA leaders are being tried
President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has reacted to the trials of former KLA leaders in The Hague, describing them as an injustice to the liberation war and the history of Kosovo's statehood.

During her speech, Osmani noted the historical importance of Kosovo's freedom and the sacrifice of those who led the liberation efforts.

Osmani emphasized that, even today, many nations in the world have not achieved their own state and live oppressed, while he described the state of Kosovo as a great historical achievement for the Albanian nation.

"Today, in the world there are still dozens of nations that have not achieved their own state, even though they are larger in number than the people of Kosovo, but they are occupied, oppressed and in search of freedom and statehood.

The titan of our literature, Ismail Kadare, not by chance called the state of Kosovo a triumph of freedom and the entire Albanian nation. This triumph was made possible because in the darkest times, Kosovo had sons and daughters who led our liberation war and stood up for the homeland, proving that freedom was more precious than life itself.

We must proudly defend this history, this truth, and this triumph in every country in the world, because the KLA is the most powerful ideal built by Albanians over the centuries. But to defend the truth, we must also write it.

"This book by author Ahmet Shala, 'When Silence Speaks', speaks not only about our war, but also about the unfair judgment being made against our vital processes, against our freedom and independence, and the liberation efforts that were undertaken in the service of the freedom and survival of our people," said Osmani.
