The European Parliament will hold a session today where it will discuss the terrorist attack on September 24 against the Kosovo Police in Banjska, Zveçan. The approval of a resolution is also expected.

In the announcement of the European Parliament, it is announced that the debate on Kosovo is expected to start after 15:00.
MEP Tonino Picula, one of the initiators of the debate in a post on X said that they condemn the recent aggression of an armed terrorist gang against Kosovo policemen.

"All the facts about the attack must be proven. The responsible authors must face justice", he writes.

Tonino also announces that at their request, the EP is expected to approve a resolution for Kosovo and Serbia.

What happened on Sunday, September 24?

Sergeant Bunjaku was killed in the ambush that the armed group took early in the morning at the entrance to the village of Banjské in Zveçan. During the exchange of fire, 2 other policemen were injured.

Then the armed group of 30 members was placed in the monastery of Banjska where for hours, throughout the whole day on Sunday, shots were exchanged with the police.

In the evening, the interior minister of Kosovo declared that 4 attackers were killed, while six other people, who were suspected to be related to them, were arrested.

Serbia has denied Kosovo's accusations that it was involved in this attack, described as a terrorist attack by the Kosovar authorities. Five days after the attack, Millan Radoiçiqi took responsibility for this attack and resigned from the position of vice president of the Serbian List, the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo, which has the support of the Serbian Government.

The attack in the north came about two weeks after Kurti and Vučić failed to reach an agreement on normalizing relations during the high-level dialogue meeting brokered by the European Union on September 14 in Brussels.

Prishtina believes that it should be mutual recognition, while Belgrade insists on a compromise solution. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo's independence, declared in 2008, and has the support of allies Russia and China against it for this.
