"You have made a mistake that will fall on their heads, just as Ukraine was hit. You have opened Pandora's box".
These were the statements of the Minister of Defense of Serbia, Milosh Vucevic, who days ago on a television in Belgrade, threatened Montenegro and North Macedonia regarding the recognition of Kosovo's independence.
He said that "there is great international support for the creation of Greater Albania, adding that this is not only a matter for Serbia, but also for its neighbors".
Montenegro, North Macedonia and Albania reacted strongly to these claims of the senior official of the Serbian government.
The Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, described the Serbian minister's comments as inappropriate while adding that he expects an explanation from him.
"North Macedonia rejects interference and inappropriate remarks by neighboring officials. We stand for regional stability and cooperation, including Serbia and Kosovo. Awaiting clarification from the Minister of Defense of Serbia", Osmani wrote.
While the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic considered "unacceptable any attempt by foreign actors (whether from the region or other parts of the world) as he said, to interfere directly or indirectly in the creation of the government in Montenegro".
He said that the 28th legislature of the Assembly is a reflection of the will of the citizens of Montenegro, who according to the Constitution are bearers of sovereignty.
Even the deputy and member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party of Socialists of former president Milo Djukanovic, Andrija Nikolić said that Mr. Vučević is beating the drums of war in order to destabilize the region.
The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, was harsh towards these statements a day later.
"We will not allow anyone to drag us back to the past..." This is the reaction of Prime Minister Edi Rama, after the statements made by the Serbian Minister of Defense about the security of the countries of the region.
In a post on Twitter, the head of government states that threats to the stability and integrity of North Macedonia and Montenegro are dangerous and unacceptable.
In his reaction, Rama recalls that Albania, RMV and Montenegro are NATO allies and fully committed to each other's security and territorial integrity.
"Threats against the stability and integrity of North Macedonia and Montenegro are dangerous and unacceptable. Let's not forget that Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro are NATO allies fully committed to each other's security and territorial integrity. We have achieved in the last decade in this region what no one could have imagined in endless decades before and we cannot and will not allow anyone to drag us back to the past that we are leaving behind forever! Together! Greater Europe is our only future", wrote Rama.
