The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, is ready to withdraw from the recent decisions, which have met with strong international reactions.
After an urgent meeting that he held with the ambassadors of the Quint countries, Kurti stated that his government is ready to quickly address any concern that has been raised regarding the "dinar" issue.
Earlier, the American ambassador in Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, had insisted that the decision to withdraw the Serbian dinar from use be postponed.
"I hope that we will see a postponement of the implementation of this regulation until more work has been done to develop a plan and a strategy on how to address the concerns of the Serbian community in the North. How will an individual be financially supported who was paid with a social assistance from the Serbian government in dinar currency? Citizens are not properly informed. We respect and support the implementation of the Constitution of Kosovo, but the United States has played an important role by helping to support these institutions so that they can perform their duties in the most effective way", said Ambassador Hovenier.
However, he stated that the decision remains in the hands of the government of Kosovo.
The US and EU accuse the Kurti government of stoking tensions by taking unilateral action. Washington even warned the Government of Albin Kurti that Kosovo is losing America as a partner that works for its recognition in the international arena.
