The explosion in the north of Kosovo, the police react: We have started investigations into the incident

The Kosovo Police have provided details of the explosion that occurred at night in North Mitrovica.

The police have launched an investigation into the explosion of a hand grenade shortly after midnight. The deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, announced that no one was injured in the explosion. The grenade allegedly exploded on "Perandori Dushan" street and caused minor material damage to the windows of a house.

"Competent police units have come to the scene. The police, after consultation with the prosecutor, have opened the case of causing general danger", Elshani emphasized.

The situation in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs, remains tense since the beginning of this year, when local Serbs opposed the Albanian mayors in the four majority-Serb municipalities, which emerged from the elections boycotted by the Serbs in April.
