Vjosa Osmani in Mitrovica, LDK and PDK attack the President of Kosovo: She is

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, visited the new mayor of Mitrovica, Faton Peci, to congratulate him on taking office.

Peci said that the meeting discussed all the needs and concerns of the citizens of Mitrovica and institutional support.

Osmani's visit was met with a reaction from former Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, from the ranks of the LDK. He said that Osmani does not represent unity, but "favoritism and division."

"When the President chooses who to congratulate based on party affiliation, the Office of the President turns into a political office. Going to Mitrovica to congratulate the former co-founder of the party is a clear violation of the constitutional role. This President does not represent unity, but favoritism and division," Hoti wrote on Facebook.

Blerta Deliu from PDK also reacted to Osman's visit.

"Political favoritism does not honor the President. Resignation or equal respect!", said Deliu.

Analyst Shenoll Muharremi also reacted to Osman's visit. He called Osman's visit to the new mayor of Mitrovica a great shame.

"Today the President has shamed us. Vjosa Osmani went to Mitrovica for a special ceremony to congratulate a mayor, but she did not go to congratulate anyone else. This is not only unusual, but it is also a great shame because of what this affair completely exposes. Why? Because she is showing that she has never been impartial as the constitution requires. She is showing that she also had a part in Mitrovica's victory. Why didn't she go to congratulate Prizren or Prishtina? Ferizaj?" Muharremi wrote.

Reaction from the Presidency

Vjosa Osmani's advisor, Bekim Kupina, has also reacted to the criticism. In a statement, he says that saying that the President 'did not go to congratulate anyone else' is completely untrue.

"The facts are stubborn and easily refute the claims. The President has also been to Dragash, which is led by LDK, she has also been to Ferizaj, which is led by PDK, and she has been to Gjilan, which is led by Vetëvendosje."

So, the narrative that the President 'chose one and ignored the others' is untrue, tendentious, and constructed for daily consumption, not for public interest.

"The attempt to present this as a violation of constitutional impartiality is an abuse of constitutional terminology. The President of the Republic does not lose impartiality by performing her representative and institutional duty," Kupina wrote.
