The Central Election Commission has begun the process of distributing ballots to Kosovo citizens who are abroad and who have chosen to vote by mail in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo.
According to official data, around 58 thousand voters registered for voting by mail will receive at their addresses the ballots produced in Slovenia, which arrived in Kosovo on December 12. The CEC has already completed the preparation of individual packages and their distribution through international postal services has begun.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi explained that each package has been provided with a tracking number, which has been sent to registered voters. “ Thus, each voter will be able to track the location of the ballot package in real time ,” Elezi declared.
Meanwhile, another category of 19,257 voters, who are registered for physical voting outside of Kosovo, will vote on December 27 at the diplomatic missions where they are registered.
The deadline for sending a vote by mail ends on December 27. The CEC has called on voters not to wait until the last day to send their ballot, in order to ensure its arrival within the legal deadline. Packages should be delivered to the mailbox address of the relevant CEC in the voter's location, or to a nearby postal point.
This process is one of the key elements of the organization of diaspora voting, which plays an important role in the Kosovo parliamentary elections. The CEC has guaranteed that all technical and legal measures have been taken to ensure the transparency and integrity of this process.
