Vucic challenges the USA and turns his eyes to Beijing, reports to the Chinese
Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with the Chinese ambassador in Belgrade, Li Ming, to whom he sent a letter regarding the situation in Kosovo.

According to a post published on the Serbian president's account on the "Instagram" platform, he wrote about his concern and informed him about the situation in Kosovo.

"The letter is addressed to the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, and in addition to informing about the situation in Kosovo, the letter was sent on the occasion of the rapid deepening of our bilateral relations. I thanked Ambassador Li Ming for the strong and unequivocal response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China regarding Pristina's recent reckless moves, which are clearly directed against the Serbian people in 'Kosovo and Metohija' . he said.

China, together with Russia - two allied states of Serbia - are permanent members of the UN Security Council. Both of these countries do not recognize the independence of Kosovo, declared in 2008.

Earlier, Vucic had warned that he would request an urgent session of the United Nations Security Council for Kosovo. His announcement comes after the authorities in Kosovo decided to stop using the Serbian dinar for payments.

On February 1, the regulation that payments should be made only with the euro currency came into force in Kosovo.

In the settlements where Serbs live in Kosovo, the Serbian dinar has been circulating since the post-war period. The Serbian state pays Kosovo Serbs - through a parallel system - salaries, pensions, social assistance, and other benefits.
