A journalist who was interviewing Jennifer Lopez reminded her of her age by talking about the passage of time since the movie "Selena", a role for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe.
The 55-year-old Latin star was being interviewed by Clayton Davis of Variety on Sunday, December 15, when he said:
"I can't believe it's been 30 years since 'Selena,'" he is heard saying in a video released by TMZ, referring to her role in the 1997 biopic of the famous singer, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.
"I can't believe that in 30 years we'll be watching this interview, and you'll be 60 years old by then, which is..." he said, while Lopez simply replied: "Wow".
Davis then joked about the singer's age, saying she looked 'old', prompting reactions and laughter from the audience.
Lopez slowly nodded, replying in a calm tone, "I'm getting close," as someone in the audience was heard asking, "Did she say that?"
The actress then responded to the comment, while the journalist explained that it was a "joke".
The star did not seem offended as he addressed the audience and said he wanted to thank those who were with him for "a long time".
"What a journey it's been, I honestly feel like the best is yet to come," the star noted, adding, "I feel like this for me has been another level of deepening who I am as a person or as an artist." And these kinds of roles change. They come to you sometimes in your life when you need them and help you grow and heal in some way.”
Lopez and Davis know each other, as he previously interviewed her for Variety's Awards Circuit podcast last month.
