Famous American actor Jeremy Renner has revealed shocking details about the serious accident that occurred on New Year's Day 2023, where a snowplow crushed him while he was trying to save his nephew.
In a recent appearance on Kelly Ripa's "Let's Talk Off Camera" podcast, the 54-year-old candidly admitted that his first reaction when he was brought back to life was disappointment.
In his memoirs, which he published in the book "My next Breath," Ranner describes the sensation he felt when he was clinically dying.
The experience, he writes, made him fearless of death and filled him with a great sense of peace.
"It was a huge relief, that's all I can say," Renner said of the feeling that came with his near-death experience.
"It's a wonderful, wonderful relief to leave your body. It's the most exhilarating peace you can ever feel. It's the highest adrenaline rush, but the peace that comes with it is magnificent. It's so magical," adds the 54-year-old.
He found that feeling of peace was so powerful that returning to life seemed like a disappointment:
"And I didn't want to go back. I remember when I came back again I was so angry. I came back, I said, Ouch!"
Renner admitted that he was only gone from this world for a few minutes after his accident, but the brief glimpse of the afterlife was enough to change his entire outlook on life.
He said that time did not exist in that space, describing the afterlife as a place of pure knowledge, free from human limitations such as language or linear thought.
Renner now sees the accident as a wake-up call that quieted the noise and helped him identify what really matters. Confronting death also forced him to reevaluate things.
"I put so much value on things that have no value. So I don't invest in stocks or bonds. I don't invest in cryptocurrencies or Bitcoin. I invest in love and in my shared relationships with which I experience love. Because that's the only thing that takes you away," he told Kelly.
