New details have emerged regarding the tragedy that occurred in Romania on January 27, where a vehicle carrying PAOK fans collided with a truck, resulting in the deaths of seven people and the injury of three others.
According to Romanian media outlet "digi24.ro", authorities have discovered narcotics in the vehicle, which opens a new field of investigation into the behavior of the passengers and driver before the fatal crash.
Investigators are now examining whether any of the passengers had consumed substances before the accident, or whether the driver had also done so.
This is because from the footage released from the moment of the accident, it can be seen that the car completely veers into the opposite lane, colliding with the truck.
Authorities are trying to accurately record the driver's movements, while simultaneously examining possible human error or technical failures that may have contributed to the tragedy.
Sources from "digi24" report that during medical tests, the driver tested positive for prohibited substances, while the van reportedly contained energy drinks, alcohol and drugs.
"In the minibus in which seven people died, it is suspected that prohibited substances, stimulants and alcohol were found. Also, during the hearings, the passenger in the front right part of the minibus stated that the driver had also smoked several cannabis cigarettes before the accident, and according to our information, the 29-year-old driver who was driving this minibus also tested positive for prohibited substances, after tests at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine ," the article states.
