Borussia Dortmund responded to last week's defeat to arch-rivals Bayern Munich with a crucial 2-1 away win over Cologne. Although they remain 11 points behind the leaders, the Yellows continue to keep their title hopes alive.
Dortmund took the lead in the 16th minute of the first half, when Serhu Girasi scored the first goal of the match. At the end of the first half, the home team was left with a man less, after Jahmai Simpson-Pusej was penalized for a serious tackle from behind on Maksimilian Beyer.
The numerical advantage was exploited by the visitors in the second half. In the 60th minute, Maximilian Beyer doubled Dortmund's lead, giving the team a significant advantage.
Cologne only reacted in the final minutes of the match. Jakub Kaminski scored in the 88th minute, narrowing the gap, but failing to avoid defeat.
With this victory, Borussia Dortmund maintains second place in the standings with 55 points, while Cologne remains in 13th place in the table.
