It's been almost a year since Barcelona were eliminated by Inter in the Champions League semi-finals, a match that continues to linger in fans' memories due to the dramatic result and controversial refereeing decisions.
The Italian team secured qualification to the final with an aggregate score of 7-6, in a match filled with tension and controversy. Recently, a Barcelona fan approached Polish referee Simon Marshiniak, bringing back the episodes of that match.
" I still haven't forgiven you for what happened last year in the match against Inter ," the fan is said to have told the referee.
Marshiniak has reacted by defending his decisions on the pitch, stressing that they, according to him, did not harm Barcelona. " From my point of view, there is nothing to forgive. To be honest, my decisions were in favor of Barcelona ," he said.
He added that some of the decisions were corrected by the VAR system: " On the pitch, I didn't give the penalty to Inter, then VAR called me and told me there was a foul. Then I gave a penalty to Barcelona and VAR corrected me because it was four or five centimetres outside the area. That's life !"
