The UEFA Executive Committee will consider at its next meeting on September 26 the candidacies for the organization of the European U-17 Championship for the years 2025, 2026 and 2027 and the European U-19 Championship for the years 2026 and 2027.
The Albanian Football Federation is part of this important competition for which it has submitted applications for the organization of the European U-17 Championship for the years 2025, 2026 and 2027 and the European U-19 Championship for the years 2026 and 2027. Part of this competition are Federations from important European countries.
In the application submitted by the Albanian Football Federation, it is foreseen that the matches will take place in "Air Albania Stadium", "Elbasan Arena", "Loro Boriçi" and "Arena Egnatia". These stadiums will host the group stage matches, the semi-finals and the grand final. Also, for the development of such a competition, 8 training centers with natural grass fields are required, which will be in the Tirana-Durres axis, this is also due to the number of hotels with specific conditions that are required.
Albania has been qualified by the Tender Commission as a country that has all the skills, capacities and meets the criteria for organizing a European Championship for young ages. This is undoubtedly the first success, seeing the high criteria that are applied in the organization of such major competitions with great international attention and interest.
Securing the right to organize a European Football Championship, if this trust is given by UEFA at the meeting of the Executive Committee next week, would undoubtedly be the biggest sporting activity and event ever organized in Albania and the region. The organization of a European one surpasses without a doubt the extraordinary organization of the historic final of the UEFA Conference League, "BalkanWeb" reports.
For the competitions that the Albanian Football Federation has applied for, 8 teams will participate, bringing to our country great interest from the media, fans and of course big teams that would turn our country into the epicenter of the European football movement for a month.
A European Championship in Albania would have a great impact on the young men and women of this country, who live with football, and would involve thousands of others in its organization, due to the fact that 15 matches will be held which in terms of the level of organization are equal to the final of the UEFA Conference League held last May in Tirana.
At the same time as receiving the right to organize such a major competition, the obligation to make some significant additional investments in the infrastructure of the stadiums and especially the training fields, where, together with the central and local government, will have to be invested in Tirana, Durrës, Kamëz, Elbasan, Shijak, Rrogozhinë and Kavajë.
We wish and hope that on September 26, Albanian football will receive the great news that it will be the host of a European Championship.
