Al-Ittihad recorded a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Al-Sad in the match valid for the eighth week of the Asian Champions League. The Saudi Arabian champions dominated the match, securing three important points at this stage of the competition.
One of the protagonists of the challenge was Mario Mitaj. The Albanian footballer was activated in a more offensive role, as a winger, developing a positive performance. He directly contributed to Al-Itihad's third goal, when his cross from the wing forced Al-Sad defender Pedro Miguel to deflect the ball into his own goal under pressure.
The Saudi club posted footage of the action on social media, praising Mitaj's cross with positive reactions. The 22-year-old has a contract with Al-Ittihad until the summer of 2028.

On the international level, Mitaj has 28 appearances for the Albanian national team, being considered one of the main elements on the left wing of defense. Despite his young age, he has been an important part of the red and black formation.
However, after the last match, the player left Saudi Arabia to return to Albania, following the death of his grandmother. The news was confirmed by the Al-Itihad club itself, which announced that he had been granted permission to leave.
" The club's board of directors expresses its sincere condolences to the first team player, Mario Mitaj, on the passing of his grandmother ," the official announcement states.
According to reports in Saudi Arabia, Mitaj's absence is considered a blow to the team, which is on the verge of facing Al Hilal. The footballer requested permission to leave immediately after the match with Al Gharafa, a request that was approved by the management and technical staff.
The next match for Al-Itihad will take place away to Al Hilal, on February 21 at 20:00, where Mitaj is expected to be unavailable due to a family situation.
