FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been decorated with a presidential medal by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, during a visit to this country.
In his speech, President Infantino said he was excited about the honor, while emphasizing that he dedicated the medal to football legend, Fadil Vokrri.
" What a pleasure for me to be in my home, in Kosovo today and to receive this recognition from a country like yours. Kosovo today is the world capital of football. Before you I want to say that I dedicate this medal to the legend of Kosovo football, Fadil Vokrri. I remember many meetings with Vokrri when Kosovo was a very new country and it was not easy to meet people from Kosovo because everywhere they talked about the status of your country. At that time I realized that Kosovo has people who believe in their country and I told Vokrri to see what we can do, but he was at every door and window that I opened asking me for Kosovo's admission to FIFA and I had no other choice. We said to Kosovo 'Welcome to FIFA '", said Infantino.
The FIFA President praised the Kosovo National Team players, who he said are proving to the world who Kosovo is.
This is Gianni Infantino's second visit to Kosovo, after the one in 2022.
