We all followed the European draw, which was made on December 2, where Albania is in Group B with Spain, Italy and Croatia. Three very strong national teams, starting with the first two who are World and European Champions (Italy in power). Likewise, Croatia in recent years has had a high level of performance, reaching the final of the World Cup.
After the draw, there were many comments that accompanied it, where the conclusion was that this group is the one from "hell" or the "group of death", also because of the difficulty it has. However, football is beautiful because there are surprises and we have to wait for the month of June to see the results. In the meantime, until then, let's see who were the "groups of death" from the European 2000 and up to the last one.
"The Bands of Hell"
England, Germany, Portugal and Romania were Group A, the so-called "group from hell" in the 2000 European Championship that took place in the Netherlands and Belgium. It managed to pass Portugal and Romania, eliminating England and Germany. Four years later, the Czech Republic of Nedved, Poborski, Rozicki, Barosh, Jankulovski and others had a very strong team and were drawn with Germany, the Netherlands and Latvia in 2004. Group D was called the most difficult. Passed the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. In "Euro 2008" the "group of death" was C: Italy (World Champions in 2006), France (finalists of the World Cup) and the Netherlands with high-level players, as well as Romania.
The Netherlands and Italy passed the group. Next we will go to the year 2012, champion Spain, but in the meantime it was in the group with Italy, Croatia and Ireland. The Croatians were ranked only one point below the "Axurres" in Group C, which they went to the final. In the European, when Albania also participated, in "France 2016", the most difficult group was group D with teams such as: Spain, Croatia, Turkey and the Czech Republic. The Croatians won the group and Spain went on.
As we come to the 2020 European Championship, which due to the pandemic was postponed and took place a year later and in different countries. The "Hell Group" was F and consisted of: Germany, France, Portugal and Hungary. With very tight points, France went ahead with 5 points, Germany with 4.
