Former Barcelona and Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic has spoken about the future of Luka Modric, estimating that his compatriot can continue playing at a high level for several more seasons.
In a statement quoted by Tribuna.com, Rakitic reacted to the possibility that Milan would only keep Modric for one more year.
"Just one? For me, Modric can play at least two or three more seasons," he said.
Modric joined Milan last summer as a free agent after leaving Real Madrid. According to previous reports, the Italian club want to keep him at the club by activating the option to extend his contract until next summer. His current deal expires at the end of this season.
This season, the midfielder has recorded 2 goals and 3 assists in 30 matches.
