President, how do you evaluate this first season of the new Champions League? Are you satisfied?
Yes, I am more than satisfied. Our new format has been a great success. I think anyone who loves and understands football will understand that this season has been fantastic. We had some truly incredible matches. The last day of the group stage was extraordinary. Some big teams were in serious danger of being eliminated. For example, PSG, who are now in the semi-finals: if they had lost one or two games, they would have been eliminated. So, fantastic season. I think even those who always criticize everything have understood now. Whether they want to accept it is another matter. Inter are the only Italian team that has gone past the group stage and reached the semi-finals.
How is Inter seen in Europe?
Inter have had and are having a great season. They are an experienced team, they have a great coach, they play well tactically. I don't want to take any risks before today's match, but I have evidence that I predicted that Inter would go very far.
The offer of “San Siro” to host the Champions League final was recently rejected. There is an open debate about the new stadium in Milan. What do you think?
I think the infrastructure of Italian football is a disgrace. You are one of the biggest football countries, you have won many World Cups, European Championships, Champions Leagues. And at the same time, among the big countries, you have the worst infrastructure by far. To be honest, I am a little tired of these Italian discussions about infrastructure, because all we see are just words. I hope Italy does something. Clubs need help from the government, municipalities and also from private investors. It is time to act, because the situation is terrible.
Italy and Turkey are aiming for “EURO 2032”. Do you think Italy will be able to recover on the infrastructure front, or are you worried?
I'm not worried yet. I think now the Italian government has also realized that it has to do something. I have a lot of confidence in Gabriele Gravina, who is my first vice president. He will do everything he can to bridge the gap. I am sure that Italy will be the organizer of the European Championship in 2032.

We share 97% of the funds with stakeholders: that's how we keep the dream, the clubs and the national federations alive. Football is unique in the world. It's not just a show, it's life, it's for everyone. As long as I'm here, I won't let this become a closed, elite game.
Do you think non-European clubs should be able to participate in UEFA competitions?
I don't believe it. We didn't even discuss it. It's a European competition. Football was born in Europe and it will remain a competition for European clubs. Although, it must be said, all European clubs are in fact world clubs, because they have players from all over the world.
