Ylber Ramadani could not refuse the opportunity to play in Serie A, because it was his biggest ambition. The midfielder of the national team was transferred at the beginning of the month from Aberdeen in Scotland to Lecce. In a recent interview for "Daily Record", Ramadani said that he had a childhood dream to play in one of the strongest European leagues, which has now become a reality.
Serie A - Since he was little, he has dreamed of moving to the Italian championship, and the opportunity came this summer. Ramadani tells the conversation he had with the leaders of the Aberdeen club, who did not have much desire to let him go, as the midfielder was one of the key points of the team.
" It is a big step for me and I had to do it. When I was a kid, I always dreamed of playing in one of the best leagues in the world. Serie A is the second best league in the world and for me it was a dream come true. I told my father that I have been away from home for 12 years and I have always told him that we will make it. So when the opportunity came, I had to tell the management of the club that I have to move, because this is my dream, to play in Serie A. I have to thank everyone, the Aberdeen club, because they gave me this opportunity and allowed this transfer to be carried out", said Ramadani first .
Lecce debut – The midfielder's dream came true last weekend when he made his Serie A debut and helped Lecce to an excellent opening day victory over Lazio. " I know the Italian championship well, because I watch it every weekend. I like Leche's project. They are investing, looking to improve. They want to stay in the elite of Italian football and go higher than last year. I'm looking forward to play in some better stadiums and also in Lecce we have a great home crowd. In the first match against Lazio, all the tickets were sold ", he explains.
Aberdeen – Ramadan will be indebted to Aberdeen, even if he hadn't been snapped up by MTK Budapest last summer, he wouldn't be in Italy now. In this regard, the 27-year-old says:
" I had a video call with the leaders. They told me they wanted me to come to Aberdeen and join their project. I accepted within an hour, to be honest. I went in March last year even though their season wasn't over yet .
I knew the team was fighting to avoid the relegation play out. I watched every game and hoped that we would stay high in the standings. Aberdeen wasn't good at the time, but I gave my word that I would go there. Aberdeen will always be in my heart and that of my family. The club treated me as if we had been together for 20 years. The
It was exciting for me when I left. Most of the fans loved me and they still send me messages. My time at Aberdeen has been one of the best times of my career so far. Everyone welcomed me from day one. I knew I would do well at Aberdeen because I believe in myself. It was the best step in my career to spend there and this is a time I will never forget ", says the central midfielder, among other things.
Highlights – The best moment in Scotland with his former club for Ramadan were the win over Reinxers and the match against St. Mirren, which secured them third place. Full of pride, Ramadan says:
" When we beat Rangers at home and also St. Mirren, I can say that they were the most outstanding matches. When I first spoke to the club, I told them that I want to come and compete for the top three places in the championship . I'm so glad we did, because they deserve it. It's a big club and we did it. There were ups and downs, but we managed to go to Europe ," says Ramadani.
