More citizens from Kosovo are visiting Albania this year... at least this is based on the data that the institutions report. The Ministry of Tourism and Environment reports that until May, more than 1.2 million vacationers from Kosovo visited the country, almost 30 percent more than in the same period of time a year ago. However, the numbers do not match what tour operators touch every day.
" This year there are fewer Albanians from Kosovo and it is visible to everyone. This is due to the liberalization of visas. What happens is this: They come to Tirana because ticket prices are significantly cheaper than in Pristina ", said Jetmira Hoxha, tour operator.
Meanwhile, the number of Serbian vacationers in the 5-month period January-May has almost doubled compared to a year ago. Data from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment shows that tourists from Romania, India, China, Poland and France have recorded the strongest growth compared to 2023.
" We have the Russians as you mentioned, but also the Israelis who are missing tourism this year because of the wars in which their countries are involved ," she added.
The opposite has happened with the Russians and the Israelis.
"This is mainly due to the direct lines but also the added options in the tourist offer to come to our country ", said Hoxha.
In the first half of the year, 4.5 million foreigners entered the country. Compared to a year ago, the numbers have expanded by 1.1 million or 32.4 percent. But the numbers are not being reflected on the ground, at least so far. /A2 CNN
