" The Director of Special Prosecutions, Altin Dumani, led a delegation that traveled to Brazil and Sao Paulo, Brazil to strengthen cooperation with key law enforcement partners in dismantling international organized crime networks. Mr. Dumani and his colleagues engaged with high-level Brazilian police officials and prosecutors and shared information about the power and extraordinary role that Albanian organized crime groups have in transporting large quantities of cocaine from South America. in Europe. The Transoceanic Office for Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) facilitated the visit, which was funded by the US State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) , the embassy announced.
It is further noted that Duman was joined by four other SPAK prosecutors, SPAK's legal advisor, a BKH investigator, as well as the American legal advisor and an FBI agent stationed at SPAK. The visit to Brazil underlined the vital role of Albania's cooperation with law enforcement agencies in destroying international crime networks, SPAK head Dumani said.
“ Strengthening SPAK's partnership and establishing direct channels of communication with our counterparts in Brazil is vital to tracking and disrupting criminal activities affecting our two countries. Together, we are making important steps in the fight against cocaine trafficking routes that threaten the security of Albania and the EU ", he declared.
The delegation was briefed by the Director and Deputy Director of Brazil's Narcotics and Weapons Law Enforcement, the Director for International Police Cooperation, the Director for International Legal Cooperation, the Director and Deputy Director for Financial Investigation, and the Attorney General fighting the criminal group Primeiro Comando do Capital ( PCC) that controls most of the cocaine distribution network in Brazil. The delegation also met with agents and analysts from other US law enforcement agencies in Brazil, including the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), DEA (Narcotics Administration), and HSI (Security Agency National).
Brazilian officials warmly welcomed SPAK Head Dumani and his colleagues, appreciating SPAK's achievements and emphasizing the important role that SPAK can play at the international level in reducing the dangerous influence of Albanian organized crime groups in Brazil and in the region.
The statement said SPAK and Brazilian authorities agreed to assist each other in sharing information and locating internationally wanted persons, establishing vital channels of communication between law enforcement and prosecutors and enhancing SPAK's ability to effectively fight back.
