The Political Secretary of the Freedom Party in Berat District, Lefter Maliqi, has come out in support of the protest of the residents of the village of Velagoshti in the Municipality of Kuçova.
In a statement to the media, Maliqi said that the mayor, Kreshnik Hajdari, who was sentenced by the court to 9 months in prison and 150 hours of work, does not come to the meeting.
He says that the mayor has promised him several times for a 2-kilometer road that connects Velagoshti with other villages, but he has not implemented it.
"I am here in support of the protest of the residents of Velagoshti in the Municipality of Kuçova, who have protested several times in front of the municipality. Where their mayor, convicted by the Court of Organized Crime, was sentenced to 9 months in prison and 150 hours of work, he does not come to any meeting while he has promised them several times for a 2 kilometer road that connects Velagoshti with other villages and that village has hundreds of thousands of olive roots, and for thousands of years people have died on that impassable road because of snakes.
While there are no nurses, an abandoned school with 6 students and a total miserable depopulation of 300 families, 50 families and some other families move from Tirana to Kuçovo to work their lands. It is a tourist place, as a former candidate for mayor, I won in that area and I had promised since last October 15 that that road would be completed and the ribbon would be cut. Only with their taxes for 34 years that road should have been completed. I am in support of the residents of Velagoshti, in support of the residents of all the villages of the Kuçovo Municipality, the neighborhoods of the Kuçovo Municipality and to be convinced that together we will return the robbed municipality to the narco-state on May 14.
