The Halilaj family has opened the doors of the morgue for their son, Bekim Halilaj.
This afternoon, the 29-year-old was given his final farewell in his hometown, in the village of Bicaj in Kukës.
The funeral ceremony was attended by hundreds of local residents and relatives, shocked by the serious news that arrived from Belgium.
Bekim Halilaj was found dead on September 30 in Brussels, under still unclear circumstances.
He was found hanging from a road sign, and Belgian authorities have launched an investigation, examining all leads, including the possibility of the involvement of organized crime elements.
According to investigative sources, it is suspected that up to four people may have been involved in the incident.
Halilaj's name had been mentioned earlier in the British media.
In 2017, he was arrested in England, where he was illegally present, along with three other Albanian citizens, as part of a group suspected of cocaine trafficking.
For this matter, he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
