The road connecting three neighborhoods in the area behind Argjiro Castle in Gjirokastra has been blocked as a result of a large landslide, significantly making daily life difficult for dozens and hundreds of residents.
This concerns about 12 thousand residents of the Manalat First and Manalat Second neighborhoods, who have been directly affected by this situation. The large mass of soil has blocked the main road connecting the neighborhoods, making normal vehicle movement impossible and limiting access to services. Residents are forced to move on foot along improvised paths, in difficult and unsafe conditions.
The situation is particularly difficult for 170 children attending the "Naim Frashëri" school, who, although they continue to go to school, are forced to cross damaged roads and difficult terrain every day, risking their safety.
Residents are demanding immediate intervention to clean up the landslide and rehabilitate the road, while the Municipality of Gjirokastra is awaiting the report of the Geological Service, which has conducted studies not only in this problematic area, but also in several other points in the city where large landslides have been identified.
