The Special Court postpones the trial session in the case of Sali Berisha, Jamamber Malltezi, Fatmir Bektashi, Xhimi Bege and Andia Pustina.
The reason for the postponement was the absence of lawyer Sokol Hazizaj, who is defending Bektashi. The next session was postponed to December 10, at 12:30.
We recall that on November 10, the GJKKO rejected the preliminary requests of the defense lawyers of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, regarding the invalidity of the acts administered during the investigations into the "Partizani" file.
According to the court's decision, the defense's claims were deemed unfounded in law. The panel emphasized that there is no decision prohibiting the prosecutor in the case, Irena Gjoka, from exercising her duties, while the appointment of experts was made in accordance with legal procedures.
We recall that Berisha is accused of "passive corruption of high-ranking officials", committed in collaboration, while Jamarbër Malltezi is accused of active corruption and money laundering.
The case concerns the privatization of the former Partizani sports complex in Tirana, which was once owned by the Ministry of Defense. SPAK's investigations allege that this process was conducted illegally and brought unfair benefits to Jamarbër Malltez, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
