On Sunday evening, Vlora was shocked by an assassination attempt, where Gëzim Sinomati was killed. The 23-year-old was shot by a sniper as he went out to smoke a cigarette on the balcony of his house.
Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço said that no noise was heard because he was a sniper with a silencer.
In an interview for "Special Report", the expert emphasized that there are doubts that one of the authors is a foreigner. Karamuço also added that the author may have been helped by two other people, who have been observing the victim's movements and habits for days, such as when he goes out and smokes cigarettes.
"The area is very well known, where they took the car and what other car they took. One author I think is a foreigner. It has found a trajectory that is not at the same height level because there are trees and the visibility of the balcony is blocked. It is possible that he shot from the car, in a position with a clear view. With the help of one or two people who have spent days observing the victim, when he smokes, when he goes out on the balcony, and roughly when the shooter should be kept ready. It is not a spur-of-the-moment event that is very planned ," said Karamuço.
He says that the weapon is suspected to have been brought in from abroad and that this is not an "ordinary" event but organized by genuine criminal groups. Karamuço added that identifying the perpetrators will be difficult due to the fact that the assassination was well thought out down to the details.
"It is an execution that has cost a lot. To find today a sniper who with just one shot can hit a person in the head who smokes cigarettes and has occasional movements but who is very oriented. It was shot at night to lose track. Although you can have binoculars just by focusing on the moment the cigarette is lit, the moment it lights up is a good signal to hit the person. Look at the school, training and with a well-thought-out plan that is not done by ordinary people and they have realized this in other assassinations, why not abroad , "added the criminalistics expert.
