The People's Advocate of Albania, Endrit Shabani, has been elected President of the Organization of Mediterranean People's Advocates. The organization's board made the decision unanimously.
The AOM operates as an intercontinental network for human rights monitoring and includes over 30 peer institutions from three continents. This network includes countries such as: France, Spain and Greece, Morocco, Egypt, Israel and Jordan, creating a common front for the oversight of governance standards and the rule of law across the Mediterranean basin.
"As President of AOM, I will coordinate the network's efforts to strengthen the independence of Ombudsperson institutions and ensure respect for citizens' rights in the face of executive power on three continents."
"This positions the Office of the People's Advocate of Albania as a key actor in institutional diplomacy, giving Tirana a leading role in shaping regional agendas for administrative justice and human rights protection," said Shabani.
