
The Special Prosecution Office is conducting investigative actions on 41 reports registered in connection with the May 11 parliamentary elections.
In an official response to ABC News, SPAK confirmed that as of May 26, 192 reports related to electoral crimes had been filed, and so far, elements of a criminal offense have been found for 41 of them and more in-depth investigative actions are being carried out. For 38 reports, it was decided not to initiate proceedings because there was not enough evidence to continue the investigations.
The highest number of proceedings was initiated by the State Police with 21 such cases, while 4 were initiated by political entities. Through the online platform that was first established by SPAK, 60 reports were submitted, while another 24 were reported via mail.
The largest number of registered proceedings, 35, is related to the criminal offense of electoral corruption, followed by that of using public office for political purposes and abuse of office.
During this period, SPAK has conducted several operations in the context of electoral crimes, conducting checks and seizing mobile phones at the levels of mayors and former mayors.
