Journalist Isa Myzyraj has published several documents after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gifted Edi Rama an aircraft worth $11.9 million.
Through a post on the social network Facebook, Myzyraj has raised questions about the agreement for the presidential plane.
The journalist emphasizes that the plane was not donated to Albania without concrete financial obligations. According to him, referring to an official document published in the Turkish Official Gazette, the agreement includes clear clauses that charge Albania with financial responsibility.
So, Article 14 of the document provides for the 'insurance' of the aircraft, obliging the Albanian side to maintain international insurance with a minimum coverage of 1 billion US dollars. Finally, the journalist underlines that this is not a symbolic value, but such insurance translates into very high annual premiums, which are paid from the public budget.
"Erdogan has given Rama a gift for the end of the year, not Turkey - Albania. And it is not free, as most say! According to the document published in the Turkish official gazette, Article 14 talks about the "Insurance" of the aircraft. The Albanian state is obliged to maintain international insurance with a minimum coverage of 1 billion US dollars, one of the most burdensome financial clauses of the document. This is not a symbolic value: such insurance translates into very high annual premiums, which are paid from the public budget," the journalist writes.
