Investigations into the sterilization scandal, SPAK requires expertise of the former deputy minister's electronic devices

The Special Prosecutor's Office has requested an expert report on the computer, phone and i-Pad seized in the apartment of the former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rjepaj, during his arrest on August 17.

He is accused of abusing his duty and falsifying documents in the concession procedure for the sterilization service.

A service that was granted with a concession in December 2015 based on a contract that was worth 100 million Euros and that SPAK says was granted in a conflict of interest by senior officials of the Ministry of Health.

During the search in Rjepaj's apartment, dozens of documents and several USB drives were found, the contents of which are being analyzed by investigators of the National Bureau of Investigation.

In the meantime, the investigators hope that from the electronic devices they can generate other additional data for these investigations, which continue to be open for 6 other former officials, including the former Minister of Health Ilir Beqajn and the former Minister of Cani Brilliance Finance.

SPAK argues, based on the data of the TIMS system, but also some communications in emails, that Rjepaj and former minister Ilir Beqaj were aware of the winners of the concession before it was announced and had traveled with those persons.

For this file, the businessman Ilir Rrapaj is under arrest in prison, as well as 6 other officials with milder measures.
