Around 400 passengers on two Wizz Air flights to Tirana from Bologna and Bergamo landed at Brindisi Airport at 3:00 am on January 7 due to bad weather at the Albanian airport.
According to airport sources, the crews remained in Albanian airspace for a long time awaiting landing authorization, but due to weather conditions and low fuel reserves, they decided to divert.

The Puglia airport has requested official instructions from Wizz Air and has activated the emergency plan. The authorities have made buses available to transport passengers to the departure airports of Bologna and Bergamo. The passengers have rejected the solution and requested transportation to Tirana.
The airport is being monitored by police, carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza officers to prevent further public order problems.
Salento Airport has continued normal operations, despite the protest that remains active.
