The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, has proudly acknowledged his Arberian roots from Barletta in Puglia, in front of the Albanian ambassador in Canberra and the Albanian-Australian community.
The city of Barleta lies in the south of Italy, in the region of Puglia. A large community of Arber women lives there, where it is believed that around 100,000 Arber women live, and the father of the Australian Prime Minister is also from this community.
"Somewhere in my past, without a doubt, I have a very direct connection with Albania. Barletta is only separated from Albania by water", Albanian said, among other things, while speaking during the ceremony of "Albanian Friends of the Parliament".
