When will the air be cleared of Saharan dust? Synoptikania Lajda Porja discloses

Saharan dust has covered all of Albania, including the capital, causing problems in people's breathing. Weather forecaster Lajda Porja explained why this phenomenon happened, what consequences it has, how long it will last, when the air in the country will be cleaned.

"Also other times we are familiar with the hot African (air) masses, which we usually see in the summer period and in the autumn period, August-September, however there are cases that also come in the spring.

In this particular case, in addition to the circulation of African masses, there was a very powerful cyclone in the Iberian Peninsula, i.e. in Spain, which brought strong wind storms to the northern part of Africa, taking with it masses of Sahara sand. This made yesterday look like it was cloudy. It was not a literal cloud; it was just clouds and clouds created precisely by the Saharan dust, which has covered the entire Mediterranean, even the southeastern part, Greece, Turkey, had a brown sky.

It is a temporary pollution and fortunately last night we had a cold atmospheric front, which came from the north-west of Europe, bringing rain and showers, and when the rain falls, they precipitate on the ground. So the cleaning of the air when we have precipitation is immediate and there are very few grains that are still left in the atmosphere that will circulate as they leave. They are leaving, the air is expected to clear this afternoon and Friday and Saturday. It is a non-problematic, temporary pollution, but it would cause problems if it lasted longer," said Porja.
