Genta Tafa Bungo has been sworn in amid tensions as Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination.
She was at the parliamentary plenary session today to take the oath, but the moment she was called by the Speaker of the Assembly Niko Peleshi, the DP deputies stood up and made accusations. However, she continued with the oath formula and as of today she is the Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination.
When the Justice Reform was announced, citizens were told that for the first time, a “moral cleansing” of the judicial elite would take place. Hope was raised in society that a new generation of judges and prosecutors would finally emerge, selected based on integrity and transparency.
But now that the Vetting process has ended, questions continue to arise about how fair that process was.
Olsi Komici, a member of the KPK, is today a deputy of the Socialist Party. He was catapulted by the Independent Qualification Commission to the Parliament hall. So a kind of reward.
Holta Zaçaj, former member of the Constitutional Court, was appointed by the Socialist Party as a member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania.
Meanwhile, Genta Tafa Bungo, former member of the KPK, became Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination.
