Policemen 12 hours at work, head of the union: Order in violation of the Labor

In addition to not taking vacations during the summer, police officers are obliged to work 12 hours a day during this period. Such overload makes them ineffective in performing the task.

The head of the Police Union, Sadedin Fishta, said that this is abuse since an employee cannot work more than 10 hours. He said that this overload affects physical and mental health as the stress level is free.

"No police officer is forced by anyone to work more than 10 hours, but if the institutions need to make the police officer work more than 10 hours, the police officer is offered a statement and must sign the statement that I agree to work and this is paid immediately. An employee cannot work more than 10 hours. Any employee who works more than 10 hours means that there is no effectiveness. Over the years, this overload has affected the physical and mental health of police officers. The stress level is over 60%", said Sadedin Fishta, President of the Police Union.

According to him, the order signed by chief police officer Muhamet Rrumbullaku is contrary to the labor code.

"The Labor Code has been violated because we are in an alienation by means of a decision of the Labor Code and the expression that annual leave is divided into two parts. If you are banned for several months to get annual leave, then it means that you are in open violation of the Labor Code because you are imposing restrictions and postponing it for another period. It is problematic related to the extra hours that the police officers have, related to the other problems that they encounter every day with the difficulties, with not receiving diets, with the problems that they have on the road with the heavy traffic, all this becomes a situation complex, stressful and problematic", said lawyer Redi Ramaj.

Most of them have booked for months, but such a decision translates into wasted money.

"We made vacation reservations, we paid since May, and our usual permits were suspended. Who returns my money?" , said a police officer.

The payment for overtime hours continues to be problematic in the ranks of the police.

"To cope with such a load with such a number of employees is a sacrifice. The government must make the same sacrifice. Finances are in arrears, they are waiting for 6 months - 1 year for the funds to arrive or to secure funds. You have to deal with it financially, and these are problems that reduce performance at work, reduce activity at work, and cause high morbidity in the ranks of the police.

Some of the police officers are not being rewarded because they are within the jurisdiction of the local directorate and are not rewarded for the distance when they pass 30 km.

Salary growth compared to other countries, we are again at the bottom. The growth is very big, but for years we haven't been growing like other countries like Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro" , said Fishta for "Euronews Albania".

Until September 15, all police officers will be on standby in service of the blue uniform for the smooth running of the tourist season.
