"The police arrest you wherever you are", Mertiri: If Meta objected,

A debate has been held regarding the manner in which former President Ilir Meta was arrested, who was forcibly taken out of the vehicle by police officers.

Petraq Milo described what happened yesterday as a violation of dignity. While journalist Ardit Rada said that Ramiz Alia was also president but they took him like a dog.

While Arjan Hoxha, a former police official, told "News 24" that if the law had been implemented, there would not be such a debate today.

Ergys Mërtiri says that if Ilir Meta has refused or objected, then the police have implemented the law. He adds that the police arrest you wherever you are.

Excerpts from the debate:

Paskal Milo: The operational plan that is carried out on how to detain a person, knowing that he has never refused to appear before the justice authorities, could very well be said to appear at such and such a police station.

By going with 10 or 15 people, the issue is prejudiced. The way he leads him treats him as guilty. Violation of dignity when it is said that you resisted. Violation of dignity when you are treated as guilty. It was a show. We haven't gotten to the evidence yet. What fear scared, here fear is not defeating corruption, we have worsened indices.

Ardit Rada: Meta made fun of this country, he declared his party's headquarters as his residential address. Where would the police go to arrest him? In order to avoid any kind of testy scenario at the party, this form was chosen. How do we know the cops didn't have body cameras, what if the footage comes out and we see he had the last word first? What political weight does Ilir Meta have when a party with 18 MPs brought it to 2.5 MPs? How many people did Ilir Meta and his friend gather in the palace in Tirana, are they gathering today in the districts of Adriatik Lapaj and others. Why don't these people know that the Police in special operations operate with civilian cars?

Arjan Hoxha: Such vehicles are indeed used, but they are for special operations or by infiltrated agents. Everything is noted in the special operations block. In the case of Ilir Meta's arrest, there was no special operation. Today, if there was an implementation of the law, there would be no debate about the way the police acted.

Ardit Rada: Even Ramiz Alia was President, they took him like a dog. Tirana was calmer than ever today. Why did the Police have to take this on the phone and say, come on, we're going to arrest you.

Ergys Mërtiri: If Ilir Meta refused or objected, then the police implemented the law. If the police went and handed him the order and he objected, of course the law had to be applied.

Petraq Milo: They haven't given him the decision at all.

Ergys Mërtiri: How do you know, I don't care if the State Police announced a press conference or not. The police go to arrest him when there is an arrest warrant wherever they find him. We don't really care if human rights were violated or not, what is worrying is that the former President of the country was arrested for corruption.
