Residents clash with Municipality officials: Emirjana Sako, open the door, you thief!

Residents of neighborhoods 7 and 8 in Durrës, affected by expropriations as part of the infrastructure project "Linking Currila with "Aleksandër Goga" street", protested today in front of the city hall.

At the City Council meeting scheduled for 12:00, one of the agenda items is related to the expropriation of homes that will be demolished for the construction of the ring road.

Before the meeting began, residents confronted officials and members of the City Council and demanded accountability for the decision to expropriate properties.

"O c*ck, O blood of the dead. O sick man, will you not come out again? O you whore, you whore, you whore of the sister," one of the protesters addressed the municipal official.

Residents also clashed at the entrance to the institution with other officials and the municipal police who had created a blockade.

"You signed for us, don't you dare enter the meeting. Get out of the meeting. Shame, shame. Don't leave the toilet, they are destroying our house," a citizen told the Council member as he entered the meeting.

From the square in front of the city hall, they called on Mayor Emiriana Sako to allow them to participate in the meeting.

"Emiriana Sako, open the door, you thief," residents are heard saying.

In statements to the media, the residents stated that they had not received prior notice of the demolition of the apartments and objected to the expropriation value, arguing that they could not secure another apartment with that amount. They asked the municipality to initially provide them with housing.

According to the municipality, the financial value of the expropriation of 867,776,164 lek has been approved in principle for the private properties affected by this public investment. 131 owners, private and state, have been identified, for whom the expropriation value has been determined.
