The month of July had the highest number of accidents compared to a year ago, where a total of 146 cases were registered with an increase of 16.8%.
Data from INSTAT show that the figures are still being updated, while they show that despite the higher number of accidents, their fatality was lower.
"In the month of July 2024, 146 road accidents are counted, of which 191 are accidents (killed and injured). During these seven months of 2024, the death rate in road accidents is 9.2 per 100 accidents, from 16.8 that was in the same period a year ago" , the publication states.
The causes of accidents mainly come from the behavior of drivers behind the wheel and, to a lesser extent, the behavior of pedestrians. In 91.1% of cases, they occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents in this period was committed by the 25-34 age group, accounting for 23.3% of the total number of accidents.
In July 2024, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Wednesday with 19.2%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Thursday, with 8.9%.
The highest number of road accidents occurred during the time frame 08:00-12:00, accounting for 19.2% of the total number of road accidents.
