The former mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjici, has been hospitalized. It is learned that he has been out of his cell for several days and was admitted to a private hospital in the country, after having health concerns.
According to the information, he is in the Pathology department and this has led to the presence of police forces in the hospital. It is not yet known exactly what Gjici is suffering from.
The Special Court of the First Instance decided on February 7, the guilty declaration of the former mayor of the municipality of Kukes, for the criminal offense of "abuse of duty" related to the sexual affair in his office and his sentence of 3 years in prison, since application of summary judgment was reduced to 2 years of imprisonment.
Safet Gjici was arrested on June 24, 2023, after the release of a video showing him having sex with a woman and then asking his subordinates to take care of passing a project requested by her on the management of street dogs to the council .
