Bad weather has caused significant flooding in several areas of the Lezha district, with the most affected area being the Zheja area in Kurbin.
The mountain water flood has flooded homes and businesses, causing extensive material damage.
It is reported that a significant number of vehicles have also been damaged as a result of the large water flows.
The Mayor of Kurbin Municipality, Majlinda Cara, has stated that the municipality's vehicles and teams are currently on the ground to manage the situation and assist the affected residents.
"The rainfall has been of high intensity. A lot of rainfall in a very short time. One of the problematic areas is in the village of Zhej where we are also making interventions due to the immediate flow of streams from the mountains. In coordination with the drainage board in Lezha, we are also intervening with the municipality's vehicles. We have had a problem with the embankment of the Droji River. And we have vehicles there that are intervening. These are the main points. We are monitoring the entire situation," said Majlinda Cara.
Meanwhile, residents of the area blame Mayor Cara for not cleaning the canals, thus causing this level of flooding with great damage.
"Look how the cars are done. 1 meter of water has entered. It's the municipality's fault. This 50 million takes a pen with it and it's been 30 years since the canal was cleaned. The mayor says I started moving at 7 am. The vehicle has been here for 10 minutes, what will the vehicle do after it's flooded. The mayor doesn't clean the canals ," said a resident.
"Colossal damage. 1 meter of water inside the bar. The drains haven't been cleaned for years. Everything happened in 1 hour. The water took the cars out front," said another.
