SPAK is against the decision of the GJKKO to sentence the former head of the Operational Office, Oltion Bistri, to only 3 years in prison for revealing secret acts.
The prosecutors in the case have confirmed that as soon as the GJKKO decision is made public, they will appeal it to the Court of Appeal.
SPAK is challenging the decision that acquitted Bistri of two other criminal offenses, corruption and money laundering, convicting him only of revealing secret acts. His sentence was converted to two years of summary trial and Bistri was released from prison after serving his sentence.
SPAK will also challenge the decision of the GJKKO to lift the seizure of assets worth 1 million euros in Bistri. Meanwhile, another process has been initiated for Bistri for other assets seized by SPAK based on the anti-mafia law, where the prosecution has requested their confiscation in court.
In parallel with Bistri, SPAK will also appeal the decision given to former prosecutor Xhevahir Lita. For prosecutor Lita, SPAK had 6 years in prison for 2 cases of corruption and issuing secret acts, but the GJKKO sentenced him to 5 years, which was reduced to 3 years and 4 months in prison by the summary trial. Lita was also released immediately, after he served the sentence with the time in detention.
