The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) has provided the final assessment of the educational performance data of young people in our country for the year 2025.
Just recently, 15-year-olds underwent tests in three subjects, mainly in language & literature, mathematics, and science, where from the results of the exams conducted, Albania was ranked 69th out of 80 other participating countries.
The publication of these figures has dealt a severe blow to the local education system. World Bank data also reported that 60% of Albanian youth are functionally illiterate, mainly in the exact sciences.
Researchers have reported that this number is almost three times higher compared to European Union countries and twice as high compared to Serbia. They have stated in the media that the performance of the students has been relatively very poor, with many of them submitting blank exam papers.
It must be said that PISA has ranked Albania in the bottom of the rankings every year, thus highlighting the substandard teaching standards in the country.
